Description

The Rossmax Peak Flow Meter is a compact, lightweight and portable device that measures peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR), an important indicator of your lung function. The device has three built in zone management systems that make it easy for users to read. Measurement of the device can range from 60-800 L/min. It is designed for adult use and is also suitable for use with a disposable mouthpiece.

The Rossmax Peak Flow Meter should be used for monitoring respiratory conditions such as asthma. Taking peak flow measures every day and keeping a record of the peak flow measures in your “peak flow diary” can help you and your doctor make important decisions about your treatment. You should use this meter and set its colour zone indicators according to a treatment plan developed for you by your doctor.

Uses

Consistent readings from a Rossmax Peak Flow Meter may help you to recognize early changes that may be signs of worsening asthma. The Rossmax Peak Flow Meter can alert you to the tightening of the airways often hours or even days before you have any asthma symptoms.

Application

  • Please read the instruction manual that comes with the Rossmax Peak Flow Meter before use.
  • Set the red indicator to the bottom of the scale. Stand up, take a deep breath, place your mouth around the peak flow meter and hold it horizontally, making your lips form a tight seal. Blow the air out as hard and as fast as possible. The number where the indicator stops is your peak measurement. Repeat the steps twice more to obtain three readings. Record the highest reading in your daily record chart.
  • Close the battery co, insert the screw in the screw hole and tighten using a small screwdriver.
  • Your peak flow measurement will fall into one of three zones.
  • Green – follow your regular medication plan and go ahead with normal activities (80-100% of best reading).
  • Yellow – caution, your asthma might be worsening. Follow your medication instructions to get back to your green zone (50-80% of best reading).
  • Red – Medical alert, get medical advice and attention immediately (< 50% of best reading).

Always read the product information leaflet before use.
