It is a smooth white aqueous cream. Hydrocortisone 1% w/w Cream contains hydrocortisone 1% w/w as the active ingredient.
Hydrocortisone 1% w/w Cream is one group of medicines called corticosteroids. It works by lowering the production of substances that cause inflammation.
It is used to relieve the itching, redness, swelling, dryness, inflammation and discomfort of various skin conditions (contact dermatitis, irritant dermatitis, insect bite reactions and mild to moderate eczema).
Directions for Use:
Hydrocortisone 1% w/w Cream should be applied sparingly in a thin film and rubbed in gently with your fingertips. Hydrocortisone 1% w/w Cream should be applied once or twice daily for a maximum period of one week (7days), or as directed by your doctor. When skin condition improves, frequency of application can be gradually reduced.
Do not cover the area with plaster or any dressings (including nappies).
How to apply this medicine:
If your doctor has asked you to apply some cream to the affected area, follow the instructions below on how to apply this medicine:
- Wash your hands.
- Squeeze a small amount of the ointment onto your fingertip.
- Gently rub a small layer of ointment over the inflamed, itchy area.

Warning & Precautions:
Hydrocortisone 1% w/w Cream is not recommended for use in children under 12 years without medical supervision.
Do not bandage the treated area unless directed to do so by your doctor.
- Continuous application without interruption will result in permanent damage of the skin, particularly on the face.
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you have adrenal gland tumour (pheochromocytoma).
- Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis) and chlorocresol may cause allergic reactions.
- If you experience a recurrence of your condition shortly after stopping treatment, within 2 weeks, do not restart using the cream without consulting a pharmacist or doctor.
- If your condition has resolved and on recurrence the redness extends beyond the initial treatment area, and you experience a burning sensation please seek medical advice before restarting treatment
- Contact your doctor if you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances
Contains:
The active substance is hydrocortisone. The other ingredients are white soft paraffin, cetomacrogol emulsifying wax (containing cetostearyl alcohol and macrogol cetostearyl ether), liquid paraffin, chlorocresol (as a preservative) and purified water.

Shipping Schedule
We aim to ship all goods within 5 working days of receipt of payment from our Webstore based at our Kinsale Road Roundabout, Cork location. If goods are in-stock and don't require a medical consultation, they are usually dispatched in 1-2 working days.
We work exclusively with DPD couriers. We do not ship on weekends or Bank Holidays. If any goods are out of stock, we will advise you of an expected availability date. Please ensure you include a contact telephone number when ordering with us.

Returns
Damaged Items
All items are carefully inspected by our team prior to dispatch. If an item becomes damaged in transit, you must notify customerservice@phelans.ie no later than 24 hours after receiving your delivery.
Returning Unwanted Items
If your online order does not fit your needs or requirements, you may notify us and return your item within 14 days of receiving your order for a full refund on the price of the product. Exchanges can made up to a maximum of 30 days post-purchase for the value of the returned product, if proof of purchase is provided and goods are as-new.
Return Criteria
No returns of medicine products can be accepted, whether they have been opened or not, once they have left the pharmacy.
All eligible items must be returned in "as new" condition, including all original packaging, in order to receive a refund. Please ensure any wheelchairs or rollators are suitable before use, as once the tyres demonstrate signs of use, items cannot be refunded. Where products require assembly, products must be carefully dis-assembled and repackaged before being returned to us.
